Gina Duello

Program Administrator, Coach

I am the Manager of Web Hosting and Administrative Applications at the Office of the Chief Information Officer at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. There I manage a team of 15 full time employees in various roles and stages of their careers. Before this current chapter I managed a team of 20 student employees. I really enjoy comparing and contrasting both of these experiences and guiding people through their own changing roles.

I have been working in IT for about 10 years all here at the University of Illinois. Moving into IT was one of the biggest risks I ever took. One of my favorite areas of focus is on the journey each of us takes in their career. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have made it this far. Along the way I experienced several different management styles and became passionate about supporting and helping staff grow.

I graduated from the MGRdev program while I was managing just two student workers. Over the next few years my responsibilities changed rapidly. I saw how the changes affected my ability to work with my team and own happiness at work. I was incredibly grateful that the MGRdev program gave me a solid base to work from, a common vocabulary to pull from, and long lasting connections with the coaches, facilitators, and members of my cohort. My hope is that I can bring that same joyful energy and support to this year’s cohort.
