 Facilitator (Hiring and Onboarding)

I have over 20 years of experience in IT Support and I currently serve as  Assistant Director for Client Support at UIC Technology Solutions. My team consists of two managers and 10 full-time team members, along with 20+ students, all dedicated to providing top-notch IT support for the UIC community.

I am passionate about creating a positive impact in the world through effective leadership. I believe that the shift from an individual contributor to a manager is a prime opportunity for improving teams and working environments. Unfortunately, I have seen groups and leaders who continue to operate with outdated processes that produce under-performing teams, and less than optimal cultures due to a lack of proper training.

My experience with MGRdev in 2019 was a career highlight for me, and it has motivated me to become more involved with the program. The enthusiasm and dedication of the team were truly inspiring, and I believe that MGRdev’s focus on filling the gaps in manager training is critical for improving the industry as a whole.

I am motivated to help others improve because of the people who have helped me throughout my career. I’ve been fortunate to receive guidance and support in the form of kind words, precise feedback, and the implementation of effective processes to improve performance. I believe that these skills and experiences can be learned, shared, and multiplied across our IT delivery service teams to create a more collaborative and supportive work environment.

As IT groups touch every corner of higher education, preparing our IT leaders to make positive and impactful experiences is crucial for improving our industry and the lives of those who serve in it. I believe that our contributions, however small, can make a difference in creating a better workplace and preparing more effective leaders.
